Welcome to Aspect8
Aspect8 is an award winning firm of Chartered Financial Planners. We blend cutting edge technology, holistic financial planning and discretionary fund management to deliver what we believe is the best absolute wealth management proposition in the UK.
Aspect8 believe in looking after the lifelong financial needs of our clients and ensuring that wealth cascades through the generations. We have been helping our clients create and protect wealth for over 2 decades many of whom are now our friends.
Aspect8 has a dedicated corporate department which advises on employee benefits and auto enrollment. In addition, we advise many company owners how to structure their personal and corporate finances in the most efficient way.
The Trustee Act 2000 placed an emphasis on the blend and tax-efficiency of investments. Aspect8 have much experience of advising trustees on their duties and constructing appropriate portfolios linked to the goals of their beneficiaries.
We advise charity trustees how to invest to further the purposes of the charity. This is usually seen as being achieved by seeking the best return from investments at an acceptable level of risk. Aspect8 also run three ethical strategies.
To quote Aristotle "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts". In the case of absolute financial planning for life this could not be more true.
Inspiration for our name was born from the 8 elements that must be considered in order deliver a financial plan that works for the long term.
Take time to click through these slides to find out what the 8 elements are and how they interact with each other.
Trusts are extremely useful instruments in helping us protect your investments and route benefits to your chosen beneficiaries in the most tax efficient way.
Trusts come in many forms and can be as simple as death benefit nomination for your pension to asset protection and disability trusts.
Aspect8 have a default position in that we would always consider trusts as part of every financial plan and level term assurance should always be written under an appropriate trust.
Aspect8 believe that advising clients on any type of debt must come before investment advice. Indeed, mortgages are first on our lists of priorities when we advise you.
Even if you do not want a mortgage it is also important to establish if you intend to borrow in the future as this has to be taken into consideration as apart of a whole plan.
Your main residence is probably the most important purchase you will ever make and usually a very prudent one. We generally consider mortgages for this purpose an investment.
As part of any financial plan we all need an emergency fund, generally we would aim to have at least six months expenses available.
In addition to an emergency fund, we view savings as short to medium-term investments of say less than five years.
Deposits are also a low-risk home for your portfolio and can help reduce your overall risk if you hold other asset classes such as equity and property.
You will have to bear in mind that, over the longer term, your money may lose its value because of inflation.
On the surface protection can appear rather boring and is often overlooked by financial planners in the pursuit of wealth management advice. It may even appear beneath some advisers who may outsource this to other lower qualified individuals.
Life insurance and Critical Illness are effective products and can make a huge difference in the lifestyle of your loved ones should the worst happen.
We believe that protection advice must come before investment advice and a suitable trust must be considered in every case.
Where do we start? There is so much choice here but investments should only be considered after borrowings and protection are covered. After we have secured these areas Aspect8 have a 5 step process as defined below.
• Determine goals and risk tolerance
• Determine appropriate asset allocation
• Select wrappers and implement strategy
• Monitor and rebalance as necessary
• Document results
This topic is complex - take a deep dive under our section 'Wealth Management'
Rather than just ask you the questions "How much would you need to retire on and at what age", we would prefer to ask you how you see your own retirement. It does lead to some colorful answers!!!! However, we believe it is essential to visualise your own retirement.
As with investments, pensions are a complex instruments and must be considered with all other elements. If you think about it, paying of debts, losing your usual income stream, non pension assets, taxation and trusts must all be considered to do the job properly. Selling pensions is not what it's all about!
In a letter to Jean-Baptiste Leroy in 1789, Benjamin Franklin was credited with the phrase "in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.
Although we agree with this we try to minimise the effect of both at Aspect8. Tax efficiency is inherent in all our processes. Our goal is to ensure that you make full use of all available allowances and reliefs where possible.
As usual things are never that simple and trusts and tax advice go together like fish and chips.
Income Protection comes second on our agenda of hierarchal needs. The reason is quite simply that your income is your biggest asset. If you are reliant on your own ability to earn money then a long term illness or disability could be devastating to you and your family.
As with all plans, income protection should not be bought in isolation and should be considered as part of a protection package alongside existing plans and employment benefits.
Aspect8 at the awards
We take a great pride in what we do here at Aspect8 and winning a relevant and credible adviser award is a fantastic way for us to gain recognition from our peers, raise our profile in the financial services community and demonstrate to potential recruits, colleagues and competitors that we are excelling in our field. Even making the shortlist is a great achievement. It also means we have a great excuse to enjoy a night out at a very posh hotel.
